Southwest Cuts Profit Goal as Shutdown Upends Flight Travel

Southwest Airlines Co. lowered its operating profit target for the full year, citing the fallout from the recent US government shutdown as well as higher fuel prices.

The US airline now expects earnings before interest and taxes to be approximately $500 million, compared with its prior expectation of $600 million to $800 million, according to a statement on Friday.
