FTC Examining Whether TP-Link Misled US Consumers About Its China Split
The US Federal Trade Commission is examining whether TP-Link Systems Inc., a California-based wireless router maker, may have deceived consumers by allegedly concealing its connections to China since its restructuring last year, according to people familiar with the matter.
At issue is whether TP-Link created a false sense of security for its customers by misleadingly describing itself as a US company and hiding its continuing ties to China, said the people, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss a confidential matter. The inquiry is in its early stages, the people said, and there’s no guarantee the FTC will file a complaint.
