CBS said a record 57.2 million viewers tuned in for the Thanksgiving Day NFL match between the Dallas Cowboys and the Kansas City Chiefs, demonstrating again the sport’s popularity with US audiences.

The number was the highest ever for a regular season NFL game and a 47% improvement from last year’s broadcast in the same slot, Paramount Skydance Corp.’s CBS division said Wednesday in a statement. The Cowboys won 31-28.
