Anthropic PBC Chief Executive Officer Dario Amodei suggested that some artificial intelligence companies are taking on too much risk by committing to spend hundreds of billions of dollars, if not more, to develop and support AI systems.

In an interview with the New York Times DealBook Summit on Wednesday, Amodei said the industry faces a “real dilemma” from balancing the need to make costly investments in data centers – which can take multiple years to set up – with “uncertainty in how quickly the economic value is going to grow” from AI.
