Africa’s Digital IDs Exclude the Vulnerable, Report Finds
Biometric-identity systems introduced by a number of African countries are blocking millions of citizens from accessing “fundamental rights and services,” according to a new report.
“Despite the rhetoric of inclusion used to sell the idea of biometric digital-ID, in practice it often results in exclusions — denial of services for marginalized communities,” according to the study released on Thursday by the UK-based Institute of Development Studies.
