Ex-UK Minister Siddiq Gets Two-Year Sentence in Bangladesh
A court in Bangladesh sentenced former UK City Minister Tulip Siddiq in absentia to two years in prison in a case involving property deals with her aunt, the deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
The Labour MP, who resigned as minister in January, was found guilty of violating regulations to secure land on the outskirts of the capital, Dhaka, for her mother by influencing Hasina, who was sentenced to death in absentia by a Bangladesh court earlier this month.
