Routine Prostate Cancer Test Rejected for Most Men in UK

Prostate cancer tests in the UK will only be offered to men with a specific cancer gene variant in a controversial decision that will put pressure on the government to overrule the advice.

Targeted screening for men with a BRCA1/2 gene variant will be cost-effective and result in less over-diagnosis of prostate cancer, the UK National Screening Committee said Friday. However, it didn’t include modeling on the cost of the gene testing itself.
