ICC Denies Ex-Philippine Leader Duterte’s Appeal for Release

The International Criminal Court rejected former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s appeal for interim release, in a further setback for the ex-leader who’s charged with crimes against humanity.

The court’s Appeals Chamber found that the defense “failed to identify errors” to demonstrate that the pre-trial chamber’s decision not to release Duterte was unreasonable, presiding judge Luz del Carmen Ibáñez Carranza said on Friday.
