Taiwan Insurers Set for Record US Dollar Bond Sales to Curb Risk
Taiwan’s life insurers are issuing US dollar bonds at a record pace to build capital buffers and help them avoid adding to currency mismatch risks that have triggered billions in losses.
The island’s insurance companies have sold more than $1.8 billion of subordinated debt in Taiwan and Singapore markets so far this year, closing in on last year’s record, according to Bloomberg-compiled data.
