Rachel Reeves has failed to repair Britain’s public finances and looks set to return with “plenty more bracing budgets,” according to one of the UK’s most prominent fiscal think tanks.

The Resolution Foundation said “the fiscal repair job is far from complete” after Wednesday’s budget left debt rising until 2029-30. While the Chancellor of the Exchequer increased taxes by around £26 billion ($34.4 billion), three quarters of the revenue-raising measures won’t apply until just months before the next election is expected in 2029.
