BOJ Dove Avoids Giving Clear Hint on Timing of Rate-Hike Move
The Bank of Japan’s dovish board member Asahi Noguchi reinforced the view that a near-term interest rate hike is in the pipeline while avoiding a clear hint that it will come in December.
“Problems are likely to arise if the pace of policy adjustment is either too fast or too slow,” he said Thursday in a speech to local business leaders in Oita, southwestern Japan, after rolling out a slew of arguments favoring both early action and a more cautious stance.
