Australia Faces Higher Summer Wildfire Risk as Dryness Persists
Some parts of Australia are facing heightened wildfire risks this summer, threatening wine-producing regions, coastal towns, and agricultural land used for grazing and grain, according to a seasonal outlook.
A swathe of southern Victoria, central New South Wales, and regions in Western Australia are at risk of elevated danger after persistently warmer-than-average conditions dried the landscape throughout much of 2025, the Australian and New Zealand National Council for fire and emergency services said in a report.
