Trump Administration Sued by States Over Homelessness Funds
The Trump administration was sued by a group of states over changes to a federal housing-assistance program that allegedly put more that $3 billion in funding at risk and could force 170,000 people onto the streets, particularly transgender individuals.
The suit, filed Tuesday in Rhode Island, challenges the US Department of Housing and Urban Development’s changes to its flagship program for funding local homelessness initiatives, including a cap on funds for permanent housing and conditions related to “gender ideology.”
