Turkish lawmakers met with the imprisoned leader of the Kurdish militant group PKK, in rare direct talks that have split political opinion on how to advance the ongoing peace process.
Members of parliament from the ruling AK Party, together with the allied Nationalist Movement Party and pro-Kurdish DEM Party, visited Abdullah Ocalan on Monday in the Imrali island prison off the coast of Istanbul where he’s been held since 1999.
