Prosus Profit Rises on E-Commerce Growth, Part Tencent Sale
Prosus NV posted a rise in profit in the first half of the fiscal year off the back of rapid growth in its e-commerce business and the sale of some of its stake in China’s Tencent Holdings Ltd.
Adjusted earnings before interest and taxes totaled $250 million over the six months to the end of September, up from $60 million in the same period a year earlier, the company said in a statement Monday. That fell short of the $289.5 million average of four analysts’ estimates compiled by Bloomberg, but broadly in line with the $255 million average of 17 analysts’ estimates compiled by the company.
