Elderson Set to Extend Term as Vice Chair of ECB Oversight Arm

European Central Bank Executive Board member Frank Elderson is ready to extend his tenure as vice chair of the institution’s supervisory arm, according to people familiar with the matter.

Elderson commenced his eight-year non-renewable term as an Executive Board member in December 2020. His stint as vice chair of the Supervisory Board started in February 2021 and was set to last five years. He’s now prepared to continue in the latter role in the three remaining years he has as an ECB rate setter, said the people, who asked to remain anonymous as the matter is private.
