Zillow Group Inc. urged a federal judge to reject a request by Compass Inc. to temporarily block the home-search site from employing a policy banning listings that have been publicly marketed elsewhere first.

Compass, the largest residential brokerage, sued Zillow in June, alleging “anticompetitive tactics” to bar listings that haven’t been posted to a local multiple-listing service, or MLS, within 24 hours of them being publicly marketed. Compass is seeking a preliminary injunction blocking Zillow’s policy while the suit proceeds.
