Novo Nordisk Powers Denmark’s Fastest Growth in Four Years

Novo’s challenges with growing competition have fueled concern about Denmark’s economy.

A rebound in Denmark’s pharmaceutical industry, dominated by Novo Nordisk A/S, powered the economy to its fastest quarterly expansion in almost four years.

Gross domestic product rose 2.3% in the third quarter from the previous three months, adjusted for seasonal swings, Statistics Denmark said Thursday in a preliminary reading. The agency described the pharmaceutical sector as the “main driving force” behind the expansion.
