Mortgage Rates in US Climb for Third Week, Reaching 6.26%

Mortgage rates climbed for a third week, further squeezing affordability for homebuyers.

The average for 30-year, fixed loans rose to 6.26%, up from 6.24% last week, Freddie Mac said in a statement Thursday. That compares with 6.84% a year earlier.
