Belarus Seeks New US Talks as It Signals Softening EU Stance

Belarus’s leader released additional political prisoners and said he’ll seek a fresh round of talks with US officials in the latest signal that his Russian-aligned regime is making overtures to the West.

President Alexander Lukashenko slated a likely round of negotiations “with our American partners” for next month, according to remarks reported by state-run news agency Belta on Thursday. Earlier, it reported the pardoning of two Roman Catholic priests who had been charged with crimes against the state.
