Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen’s Social Democrats suffered a major setback in local elections held across the country, losing the capital after more than a century in power.

The Green Left’s Sisse Marie Welling will become Copenhagen’s new Lord Mayor after securing backing from other parties following Tuesday’s vote, the first non-Social Democrat to hold the top governing post since 1903. The Social Democrats finished third in the capital.
