Tech Tycoon Mike Lynch’s Estate Owes $1.8 Billion, HPE Says

Mike Lynch’s estate owes Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. as much as $1.8 billion, the firm’s lawyers argued, a sum that would likely dwarf the amount held by the estate of the late tech tycoon.

Nearly a year and a half after Lynch drowned when his yacht sank in a storm off the coast of Sicily, HPE resumed its case in a London court. Lawyers for the US firm said that its total losses included more than $750 million of interest on top of an award of more than $1 billion. Lynch’s estate argued the “excessive” sum is based on a “flawed approach” and should be “materially lower.”
