Roblox Rolls Out Photo-Based Age Verification in Safety Step

Roblox Corp. has begun asking users to verify their ages with photos before chatting with friends or strangers, another step aimed at increasing safety on the popular video-game platform.

The company is rolling out facial age checks on a voluntary basis starting Tuesday. Users can choose to share a photo or video of their face. The company said its vendor, Persona, deletes the images after processing. By early January, all users will have to submit to age-verification if they want to chat with others on the platform.
