Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made an unusual pledge to crack down on violence by hardline Jewish settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank, which has put the territory on edge as world powers try to stabilize the post-war Gaza Strip.

Netanyahu’s rebuke highlights an escalation of settler violence and comes as US President Donald Trump advances his 20-point plan to bring peace to Gaza. On Monday, the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution embracing the plan.
