EU Warns Its Ties to China Hamper Ability to Punish Russia

The European Union’s deep economic ties to China are constraining its ability to pressure Beijing over Russia’s war in Ukraine, the bloc’s top diplomat said.

China “might also hurt you, and that’s the problem,” said Kaja Kallas, the EU’s high representative for foreign affairs, at a Bloomberg event in Brussels on Tuesday. “If you’re not willing to pay the price that they are going to impose on you, then it’s hard to act.”
