Nexperia Conflict Shows Dialog Key in Chip Sector, ASML CEO Says

The crisis sparked by the recent standoff between the Netherlands and China over chipmaker Nexperia underscores just how fragile the supply chain is and why dialog is vital to prevent disputes from spiraling, the head of Dutch technology giant ASML Holding NV said on Sunday.

The Nexperia case is a stark reminder of the critical nature of the semiconductor industry and “that the ecosystem is fragile,” ASML’s Chief Executive Officer Christophe Fouquet said on Dutch TV program Buitenhof. It highlights how important it is that all parties “show responsibility,” he said, adding that “dialog is essential.”
