Azerbaijan Joins Central Asia Consultative Bloc to Bolster Ties

Azerbaijan joined the consultative platform of the five Central Asian republics, a move aimed at strengthening regional cooperation.

Azerbaijan was accepted into the Central Asia consultative meetings on Sunday at a summit in Tashkent in Uzbekistan, according to state media reports. The platform held its first meeting in 2018 and convenes periodically to coordinate policy on security, trade, energy and transport. It originally comprised Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
