CMA CGM SA, the world’s third-largest container line, is expecting an industry downturn to take hold next year amid lower freight rates, higher capacity and a drop in trade volumes.

“2026 won’t be a great year for shipping,” Chief Financial Officer Ramon Fernandez said Friday during a presentation of third-quarter results, adding that the firm controlled by the billionaire Saade family will use cost discipline and operational efficiencies to “prepare for a more difficult” 12 months.
