Vietnam Mulls Short Selling Options Before Upgrade, Report Says
Vietnam is weighing plans to allow regulated short selling as soon as next year, a step aimed at boosting trading volumes as the country prepares for an upgrade to emerging-market status.
The State Securities Commission is among agencies tasked with studying securities borrowing, lending and controlled short selling via pending and same-day trading mechanisms, according to news website VnExpress. Plans for specific guidelines are expected to be finalized between 2026 and 2028.
