Prime Minister Keir Starmer tried to draw a line under squabbling within his Labour Party and called for unity after an alleged challenge for his job exposed questions about his future.

Speaking in parliament on Wednesday, Starmer parried the opposition’s questions about whether he had lost control of allies who had anonymously accused Health Secretary Wes Streeting of plotting to become leader. Starmer said he had not personally authorized media briefings against a cabinet minister, calling any such attack “completely unacceptable.”
