Australia and Indonesia have “substantively concluded” talks on a new bilateral treaty that will significantly expand their security and defense cooperation, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said.

“This treaty is a recognition from both our nations that the best way to secure that peace and stability is by acting together,” Albanese told reporters at a naval base on Sydney harbor on Wednesday, standing next to President Prabowo Subianto. “It signals a new era in the Australia-Indonesia relationship.”
