Emerging-Market Assets Rally on Progress to End US Shutdown
Emerging-market stocks rose as investor risk appetite got a boost from US lawmakers’ progress toward ending the nation’s longest government shutdown.
The MSCI Emerging Markets Index closed 1.3% higher on Monday, notching the biggest advance in two weeks, while a Bloomberg gauge tracking Asia’s large- and mid-cap stocks posted similar gains. A measure of developing-nation currencies traded 0.1% higher at the strongest level in a week.
