British Gas to Gain 23,000 Customers as Tomato Energy Folds

Centrica Plc’s British Gas has been appointed by the UK regulator Ofgem to take on 23,000 customers from an energy supplier that ceased trading last week after cash-flow issues.

Tomato Energy Ltd. is one of the first suppliers to collapse since the wave of failures during the UK energy crisis in 2021, when surging wholesale prices forced more than two dozen firms out of business. Its customers were transferred to British Gas on Sunday with no interruption to their supply, Ofgem said in a statement.
