South Africa Takes Reins of Regional Body After Madagascar Coup

South Africa has taken over leadership of a regional body from Madagascar, which decided to relinquish the role following a military takeover sparked by nationwide protests.

The Southern African Development Community rotational leadership was handed to South Africa at the weekend, after a virtual meeting attended by several regional leaders.
