Germany’s parliament is set to approve defense equipment purchases worth more than €3 billion ($3.47 billion) as part of a massive military ramp-up, including 20 light combat helicopters from Airbus SE, according to a government document.
The list of defense deals, which lawmakers are expected to approve in a closed-door meeting on Wednesday, also involves 100,000 night vision devices from Hensoldt AG and Theon International under a contract worth roughly €1 billion, according to the document. And the defense ministry is seeking approval for the purchase of further IRIS-T SLM air-defense guided missiles manufactured by Diehl worth €1.2 billion.
