North Korea Fires Missile Days After US Sanctions on Its Bankers
North Korea fired a ballistic missile off its east coast, South Korea’s military said Friday, a day after Pyongyang bristled at US sanctions imposed on some of its bankers that Washington accused of laundering funds for the regime’s nuclear program.
The missile, which was fired eastward from the North Pyongan province, was short-range, flying about 700 kilometers (435 miles), the Joint Chiefs of Staff said. South Korea and the US are conducting a detailed analysis to determine its exact specifications. “Our military is maintaining full readiness while closely sharing relevant information with the US and Japan,” the JCS said in a statement.
