Renault SA presented its new battery-powered Twingo city car as Europe’s automakers try to offer more affordable electric vehicles to fight back against Chinese rivals.

The redesigned vehicle, which borrows elements from the popular model introduced in the 1990s, will be available for less than €20,000 ($23,000) by next summer, the French manufacturer said Thursday.
