South Sudan Names Eighth Finance Minister in Five Years
South Sudan’s president appointed a new finance minister, the eighth time he’s replaced the head of the oil-producing nation’s Treasury in the past five years.
Barnaba Bak Chol, who previously served in the post before being fired in March 2024, will replace Athian Ding Athian, according to a decree read on state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corp. on Monday. Athian had previously spent about a year at the helm of the ministry after his appointment in 2020.
