Dutch Parties to Begin Coalition Talks After Negotiator Pick

Rob Jetten, whose center-left Democrats 66 party won last week’s Dutch election, tapped Wouter Koolmees to begin preliminary talks to create a government coalition.

The process of forming a Dutch government can take many months, and the Netherlands is among the slowest at the process in Europe. After the last election, four parties negotiated for more than seven months before forming a ruling alliance.
