Japan’s Kiuchi Doesn’t Rule Out Bonds to Fund Economic Package

Japan should not rule out any funding options including debt issuance for its upcoming economic package, according to the minister tasked with compiling the measures.

“We should be free to use any tools available,” Growth Strategy Minister Minoru Kiuchi said in a group interview Friday, when asked whether bond issuance could be used. “As long as it doesn’t undermine Japan’s fiscal credibility, I think we’re fine to use any means.”
