Emerging-market assets declined Thursday as remarks from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell that reduced expectations for a December rate cut reverberated in global markets.

Powell’s comments, which sent risk-assets tumbling the previous session, offset the impact of a trade truce between the US and China.
