A key Democratic senator on Wednesday blasted the Trump administration for pushing Congress to the sidelines on critical national security issues, including military pay during the government shutdown, strikes on alleged drug boats off the Venezuelan coast and assistance to Argentina.

The concerns voiced by Jeanne Shaheen, a moderate and the senior Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, are also surfacing on the Republican side of the aisle, where key chairmen implored the administration to provide details on the decision to pull US troops out of Romania.
