Santander Earnings Beat on US Growth, Lower Loan Provisions

Banco Santander SA posted third-quarter results that beat analysts’ estimates as profit jumped in the US and provisions for souring loans remained contained.

The biggest bank based in Spain reported net income of €3.5 billion ($4.1 billion), the sixth consecutive quarterly record, according to a statement Wednesday. Analysts polled by Bloomberg had expected profit of €3.38 billion.
