Most Britons would back a wealth tax according to a survey highlighting the depth of support for a policy Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves has already ruled out ahead of her budget next month.

Some 64% of adults would endorse the introduction of such a levy — which has been proposed by the Green Party — according to the Ipsos poll on Tuesday. It comes after YouGov last week gauged 75% of the public in favor of the measure, which the two pollsters defined as a 1% annual tax on assets above £10 million ($13 million) and 2% over £1 billion, in line with the Green proposal.
