Malawi President Declares State of Disaster As Hunger Spreads

Malawi’s president declared a state of disaster following a warning that more than a fifth of the southern African nation’s population face food insecurity.

The classification covers 11 of Malawi’s 28 districts, according to a statement issued by the Office of the President and Cabinet on Monday.
