Guerreiro Set to Lead Santander in Portugal as Rare Woman CEO

Isabel Guerreiro is the top candidate to become the chief executive officer of Banco Santander SA’s Portuguese unit, in what would be a rare elevation of a woman to a top role in the country, according to people familiar with the matter.

Guerreiro, a board member of Banco Santander Totta SA, is expected to succeed Pedro Castro e Almeida as chief executive officer should he become chief risk officer at the Spanish parent, according to people familiar with the matter. They declined to be identified because the discussions are private.
