Sarkozy’s Fall From Grace Culminates in a Notorious Paris Jail

Nicolas Sarkozy entered Prison de la Santé on Tuesday morning, capping a spectacular fall from grace that saw a former president go to jail for the first time in the Republic’s history.

Sarkozy left home hand-in-hand with his wife, Carla Bruni, waving to a crowd of people as he climbed into a black car. Tracked all the way by French TV crews, his Renault later drove through a white door at the notorious Paris prison, which closed behind him.
