Former Archegos Capital Management head trader William Tomita, who became a star prosecution witness against ex-boss Bill Hwang, was spared a prison term for his role in the firm’s 2021 collapse.

Tomita, 42, was sentenced Tuesday to three years’ probation by US District Judge Laura Taylor Swain in New York. The judge said that, while Tomita played an “essential and direct role” in the “massive scheme,” the trades he executed were entirely directed by Hwang.
