The US Army Corps of Engineers will pause $11 billion in infrastructure projects in 12 states that voted for Democrat Kamala Harris in 2024 as the White House continues to exert leverage in talks to end a government shutdown now in its 17th day.

“The Democrat shutdown has drained the Army Corps of Engineers’ ability to manage billions of dollars in projects,” White House budget director Russ Vought said in a social media post Friday.
