Welcome to Five Top Tables, a column from Bloomberg Pursuits to guide your dining decisions in New York , Dubai, Paris, Madrid and other finance capitals around the world.

Finding a great meal in London isn’t easy. For one thing, the city is vast (the largest in Western Europe, in fact) and more spread out than most. Unless you live on the west side, traveling to eat in a hot neighborhood like Notting Hill is a journey. London is also a town that values a reservation—some places take walk-ins, but it’s not standard practice, especially in the busy autumn season. Nor are there always bar seats for spontaneous diners to decamp to.
